I understand that femininity and masculinity are real things, but they shouldn't shoehorn anyone into absolute characteristics. I wanted to put women on the same standing as men, as if it was a man in the exact same image everyone would just call it badass. Just that commentary made me really uncomfortable. But she was happy, like a warrior woman after a battle taking a moment to relax, but a friend of mine got accusing at me for drawing a woman in such a manner. It reminds me of an illustration I did for a Roller Derby art contest, and I depicted this skater after a game with a ice pack, black eye, and red scrapes. But there's still this taboo of just the image of a roughed up woman, regardless of context. She is an adventure action hero and shouldn't be treated a a dainty flower because she has a vagina. I have an instinctual aversion to seeing women in pain as a man, but she is the hero of this story not because she's a woman. That's one of the questions that game really made me think about.
